The Mayor of North Slope Borough, Harry Bower, signed an emergency order authorising local officials to "commandeer" all assets of bankrupt RavnAir Group, including its aircraft, ground equipment, and staff members, to ensure the continuation of air services to remote settlements in northern Alaska.

Alaska's northernmost borough, North Slope Borough is the size of the United Kingdom but with only 10,000 residents. It lost most of its air connectivity following RavnAir Group's cessation of operations earlier this month. While Wright Air Service (8V, Fairbanks International) took over some of its routes, a large proportion have now been left fallow.

Alaska Public Media was not able to confirm which RavnAir assets had been commandeered.

RavnAir Group, which filed for Chapter 11 restructuring, owns PenAir (Anchorage Ted Stevens), Corvus Airlines (Anchorage Ted Stevens), Frontier Flying Service (Fairbanks International), and Hageland Aviation Services (Saint Mary's). It operated five Saab 2000s, ten Dash 8-100s, as well as Beech 1900C, Beech 1900(F), Piper (twin piston), Cessna (single turboprop), and Cessna (single piston) aircraft.
