AlbaStar (AP, Palma de Mallorca) has concluded an agreement with Airgest, which manages Trapani Vincenzo Florio Airport, covering flights to Cuneo and Milan Malpensa. The weekly, B737-800perated flights to each destination begin on July 10, ramping up to 2x weekly, with both routes initially maintained until September 7. Both services may be continued into the winter season, depending on performance.

The privately-owned Spanish carrier has permanent bases in Italy and has been operating charter and scheduled flights from Malpensa and Milan Bergamo since 2010 along with its primary base in Spain at Palma de Mallorca. From 2015, it has been flying to other destinations in Sicily, with direct flights to Catania and Palermo International.

"The protagonist of our restart is Trapani," said Giancarlo Celani, Albastar's Chief Commercial Officer & Deputy Chief Executive Officer. "A new destination for our scheduled flight network, which will be reached by bi-weekly connections from Cuneo and Milan Malpensa [...] from July 10 to September 7, followed by a winter programme from December [which is] currently in the planning phase."

"The addition of Albastar to the panel of airlines flying from Trapani," commented Airgest President Salvatore Ombra "is only the first result of a relaunch plan that has not stopped despite the lockdown, and proof that Airgest's management continues to carry on Trapani Airport's growth project. The development of new routes goes against the trend that is currently happening in Sicily and in Italy."

According to the ch-aviation fleets module, Albastar operates one B737-400 and five B737-800s.
