ZIPAIR (ZG, Tokyo Narita) will debut commercial flight operations on June 3 albeit ferrying freight instead of passengers.

The JAL Group low-cost carrier said in a statement that it has submitted an application to the Japanese Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLITT) for permission to operate a 4x weekly cargo-only service between Tokyo Narita and Bangkok Suvarnabhumi, Thailand using its B787-8s.

ZIPAIR secured its Air Operator's Certificate (AOC) in July last year and, prior to the Covid-19 crisis, had planned to launch commercial passenger flights in mid-May, initially connecting Narita to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi.
