Jetstar Airways (JQ, Melbourne Tullamarine) has announced it will resume domestic services in New Zealand on July 1, initially plying around 60% of its normal schedule within the country.

The Australian low-cost carrier, a subsidiary of Qantas Group, will use A320-200s to fly from Auckland International to Christchurch, Dunedin, Queenstown International, and Wellington, and from Wellington to Christchurch and Queenstown.

Following a round of lockdowns, New Zealand was officially declared COVID-free on June 8, after recording no new cases for more than two weeks and with no active known cases.

Jetstar Airways has continued to operate a very limited domestic network in Australia throughout the pandemic. According to the ch-aviation capacities module, it plans to operate 124 scheduled flights during the week starting June 15, 2020. It currently plans to restart trans-Tasman international services between Australia and New Zealand (including Cook Islands, a South Pacific state in free association with New Zealand) on July 1.
