Air Inuit (3H, Kuujjuaq) has announced plans to operate charter flights to the United States, and possibly beyond, ferrying passengers, cargo, and mail.

The Canadian carrier said in its application to the US Department of Transportation (DOT) for a foreign air carrier permit as well as exemption authority that it now wishes to be able to provide ad-hoc charter services to and from the US with aircraft whose seating capacity exceeds 30, whose payload exceeds 7,500 pounds (3,401 kilogrammes), and whose MTOW is more than 35,000 pounds (15,876 kilogrammes). It did not specify any particular routes or contracts.

Air Inuit currently operates four B737s, two Dash 8-100s, ten Dash 8-300s (including three freighters), six DHC-6-300s, and three Beech King Airs. It intends to have the following aircraft, all of which it owns, included on its operations specifications for US service: three B737-200Cs, one B737-300, three Beech (twin turboprop) King Air 300s, two Dash 8-100s, and seven Dash 8-300s.
