Kuwait International Airport is set to reopen to scheduled passenger flights on August 1, 2020, following a decision taken by the Kuwaiti government, although privately-owned Jazeera Airways (J9, Kuwait) has already confirmed that it will restart operations in July.

The low-cost carrier said that effective July 1, it would operate daily services between Kuwait and Dubai International and 2x weekly flights to Beirut. Entry into Kuwait remains heavily restricted, while Kuwaiti citizens need to obtain government approval before travel.

Flag carrier Kuwait Airways (KU, Kuwait) has yet to announce its relaunch plan.

Kuwait International Airport has been closed since March 14, 2020, and this is one of the longest such measures any government has taken in the world. Despite its closure to commercial operations, repatriation and cargo operations to and from Kuwait have continued through the peak of the pandemic.
