Wizz Air Abu Dhabi (5W, Abu Dhabi International) will commence flight operations on October 1 using a pair of locally-based A321-200neo, Wizz Air Holdings has announced.

In a statement, the LCC said initial flights out of the Emirati capital, Abu Dhabi International, will be to Alexandria Borg el Arab (Egypt), Athens (Greece), Larnaca (Cyprus), Odesa (Ukraine), Kutaisi (Georgia), and Yerevan (Armenia).

A 30/70 joint venture between the state-owned Abu Dhabi Developmental Holding Company (ADQ) and Wizz Air Holdings, Wizz Air Abu Dhabi plans to add four more A321neo within its first six months of operations.

József Váradi, Wizz Air's Chief Executive Officer, said in an earnings call last month that he foresees the UAE-based carrier operating a fleet of 50 aircraft within the next ten years.
