SKY Airline Perú (H8, Lima International) has named Miami International and Fort Lauderdale International as the first US destinations it intends to serve from Lima International starting in the first half of next year.

In its application to the US Department of Transportation (DOT) for exemption authority and a foreign air carrier's permit, the Peruvian budget carrier said it would use its fleet of A320-200Ns to run flights to the US, which would operate 7x weekly initially.

SKY Peru is a 70/30 venture between Inversiones Sky Chile SpA and Peruvian firm Inversiones Huechuraba S.A.C. Both entities are owned by SKY Airline (Chile) (H2, Santiago de Chile) which is ultimately owned by Rosemarie Mast (26.08%), Margit Paulmann (17.04%), Andel Paulmann (17.04%), Eberhard Paulmann (17.04%), and Holger Paulmann (17.04%).

From its hub in Lima, SKY Peru serves 11 cities throughout Peru alongside Cancún in Mexico and Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic.

SKY Chile chairman Holger Paulmann said last month that the carrier would pursue its own US-bound operations once its incoming fleet of A321neo(XLR)s arrive, likely in 2023.
