ASL Airlines Ireland (ABR, Dublin Int'l) has commenced operating domestic routes in Italy on behalf of Amazon.com, using one of its seven B737-400(F)s, ch-aviation analysis of Flightradar24 ADS-B data shows.
EI-STM (msn 27094) was ferried to Milan Malpensa on January 25, 2021, and has since been plying a nightly route to Cagliari in Sardinia. Since February 8, the network has been expanded to include nightly services to Catania in Sicily.
According to the ch-aviation fleets advanced module, all seven B737-400(F)s, one of two B737-400(SF)s, and both B737-800(BCF)s operated by ASL Airlines Ireland are chartered to Amazon.com. They operate international cargo services in Europe, connecting the continent's most important freight gateways such as Cologne/Bonn, Leipzig/Halle, East Midlands, Madrid Barajas, and Milan. The -800(BCF)s, contrary to the -400(F)s, sport Amazon's Prime Air livery. A further two B737-400(F)s operated by ASL Airlines France (5O, Paris CDG) also fly on behalf of the e-commerce giant, including one on domestic routes in France.

ASL Aviation Holdings has firmed options for ten B737-800(BCF)s, increasing its total order for the converted freighters to 21 aircraft.
The Irish holding placed an initial order for ten B737-800(BCF)s with options for ten more in 2019. On top of this recent firm order, it also ordered another one aircraft in the meanwhile.
"The performance and reliability of the B737-800BCF make it the perfect fit for our combined fleet renewal and growth programmes and so we have moved to confirm our 10 options earlier than planned", Chief Executive Dave Andrew said.
The holding said that the newly ordered aircraft will be operated by its in-house carriers: ASL Airlines Ireland, ASL Airlines Belgium, and ASL Airlines France.
The first B737-800(BCF) was delivered to ASL Airlines France in late November 2020 and entered into revenue service on December 9. FedEx Express (FX, Memphis Int'l) took delivery of the world's first ATR72-600F, Avions de Transport Régional's only purpose-built dedicated freighter, on December 15, 2020.
EI-GUL (msn 1653) was ferried from Toulouse Blagnac to Shannon on December 17, 2020. The aircraft will be operated on behalf of FedEx by ASL Airlines Ireland (ABR, Dublin Int'l), which has been a FedEx regional feeder in Europe since 2000. It is expected to commence revenue operations in early 2021.
FedEx has a further twenty-nine ATR72-600Fs on firm order from the manufacturer. It also holds a further twenty options.
According to the ch-aviation fleets advanced module, ASL Airlines Ireland also operates fourteen other ATR turboprops on behalf of FedEx Express - three ATR42-300(F)s and eleven ATR72-500(F)s.
