Oman Air (WY, Muscat) has announced that it will restart international operations on October 1, 2020, coinciding with the reopening of the sultanate's borders.

No further details were revealed regarding either its initial international network or the terms of the reopening of Oman's borders. Abu Dhabi-based daily The National speculated that the country was likely to introduce a tiered system of destinations permitted for travel depending on each country's epidemiological situation.

Oman closed its borders, forcing the flag carrier to suspend all international flights, on March 29, 2020. The bulk of domestic flights were also suspended at that time, although Oman Air continued to operate services to Khasab in the Musandam Governorate, separated from the remainder of Oman by a strip of UAE's territory. The route remains Oman Air's sole scheduled operation.

SalamAir (OV, Muscat) has confirmed it will also restart scheduled international flights on October 1, 2020. The Omani low-cost carrier currently operates domestic charters from Muscat to Marmul and Ghaba Qam Alam, as well as international repatriation charters.
