Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings, the parent of Atlas Air (5Y, New York JFK) and Polar Air Cargo (PO, New York JFK), has announced it entered into a cargo charter partnership with Cainiao, the logistics arm of Chinese e-commerce behemoth Alibaba, covering services between China and South America.

"Our partnership with Atlas Air will help us establish an efficient, reliable network to South America and other worldwide destinations by significantly reducing airfreight delivery time for the merchants we support," Cainiao's Chief Strategist and General Manager of Export Logistics William Xiong said.

The Chinese firm underlined that its volume of packages shipped to South America had been steadily growing over the last months, doubling during the third quarter of 2020 in comparison with the second quarter of this year.

Atlas Air will initially operate three weekly charter flights from China to destinations in Brazil and Chile, starting in November 2020.

The American cargo specialist has a well-established partnership with Alibaba's largest rival, Amazon.com, on whose behalf it operates nineteen B767-300Fs, the ch-aviation fleets module shows.
