Cargojet Airways (W8, Hamilton, ON) and DHL Express have expanded their long-time ACMI partnership with the addition of three international routes operated by three dedicated B767-300Fs between Hamilton, ON, Canada; the DHL Express hub in Cincinnati International, Ohio; and continuing to Monterrey Mariano Escobedo, Mexico; and the United Kingdom.
Cargojet said in a statement these routes were initially started in April and October 2020 on a temporary basis, as global demand for dedicated air cargo services soared as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting reduction in belly cargo capacity in passenger aircraft. Cargojet had been well-positioned to assist DHL Express in quickly adding required cargo capacity. It would now transition these temporary routes to longer-term arrangements to provide dedicated air cargo capacity to DHL. This meant Cargojet now operated a total of nine dedicated ACMI aircraft for DHL Express.
Cargojet President and Chief Executive Officer, Ajay K. Virman, and DHL Express Americas Vice President of Aviation, Jon Olin, jointly welcomed the opportunity to expand their longstanding relationship, while Olin commented on the “ever-growing demands for capacity and shipment growth, especially on critical transatlantic lanes".
Cargojet provides air cargo services to all major North American cities, carrying more than 11,339.81 tonnes weekly. According to the ch-aviation fleets ownership module, it operates a fleet of 28 cargo aircraft, including one A300-600R(F) wet-leased from AeroUnion (6R, México City International); one ATR42-300(QC) wet-leased from First Air (Carp); eight owned B757-200(PCF)s; four B767-200(ERBDSF)s, of which three are owned and one is wet-leased from 21 Air (2I, Greensboro Piedmont Triad International); four B767-300ER(BCF)s, of which three are owned and one is on an operating lease from Cargo Aircraft Management; and ten B767-300ER(BDSF)s, of which seven are owned and three are on operating leases from Cargo Aircraft Management.
