US Direct Air's founders guilty of stealing pax money

A federal district court in New Jersey found Judy Tull and Kay Ellison, CEO and managing partner of the bankrupt Direct Air (D1, Myrtle Beach), guilty of stealing millions of dollars from escrow accounts between 2007 and 2012, Triangle Business Journal has reported.

The two have been accused and found guilty of orchestrating an elaborate scheme in which they have defrauded millions of dollars from their airline.

Nepal Airlines opens talks over Twin Otter-400 purchase

Nepal Airlines (RA, Kathmandu) has initiated talks with Viking Air over its proposed acquisition of six new DHC-6-400s.

According to The Kathmandu Post, the turboprops would be used to replace the Nepali carrier's existing fleet of three DHT-6-300s, now well over 30 years of age.

Wizz Air UK adds maiden A321

Wizz Air UK (London Luton) has taken delivery of its first A321-200 with Skyliner Aviation reporting that G-WUKC (msn 8169) was ferried from Hamburg Finkenwerder to Budapest at the end of last month.

The aircraft is expected to be positioned to its London Luton base in the coming weeks where it will join three other A320-200s.

Hevilift Australia (Brisbane Int'l) has taken delivery of its first ATR72 following the handing over of ATR72-500 VH-FVM (msn 979). The seven-year-old turboprop is leased from Avation and was formerly in service for Virgin Australia (VA, Brisbane Int'l).

Hevilift Australia already has an ATR42-500, VH-YWH (msn 194), on its books and intends to use both Avions de Transport Régional turboprops to operate a charter and RPT (Regular Public Transport) flights out of Brisbane Int'l.

Med-View Airline (VL, Kano) is set to see a fresh capital injection after shareholders voted to increase the carrier's share capital through the issuance of a total of 2,249,350,600 ordinary shares valued at NGN0.50 each.

Singaporean sovereign wealth fund reduces VietJetAir stake

GIC Pte, Singapore's sovereign wealth fund, has reduced its shareholding in VietJetAir (VJ, Hanoi) to 4.97% and is no longer considered a major shareholder in the budget carrier.

A disclosure to the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange (HOSE) on March 29 states GIC sold 265,900 VietJetAir shares thereby reducing its stake from 22,712,310 shares (5.03%) to 22,446,410 (4.97%). The buyer was not disclosed.

Singapore Airlines eyes Boeing MoM jet for the group

Singapore Airlines (SQ, Singapore Changi) is interested in the proposed new Boeing middle-of-the-market (MoM) jet but, if ordered, could place it with one of the Singapore Airlines Group subsidiaries, such as Scoot (TR, Singapore Changi), CEO Goh Choon Phong has been quoted as saying by Aviation Week.
