It will launch weekly seasonal EMB-195 service from Manchester to Friedrichshafen on December 21. Flybe. will give up its services between Exeter and Inverness on October 24 and replace its Exeter-Aberdeen non-stop services with a five times weekly Exeter-Leeds/Bradford-Exeter Dash 8-400 flight. It has already given up its Glasgow Intl-Newquay route on August 2.

Virgin Atlantic (VS, London Heathrow) has announced massive opposition to a proposed alliance between British Airways (BA/London Heathrow) and American Airlines (AA/Dallas/Fort Worth). Its chairman Richard Branson also declared his interest in a possible bid as part of an airline consortium to take over London Gatwick airport that has been put up for sale by BAA. Spanair (JK, Barcelona El Prat) has cancelled its wet-lease agreement with subsidiary AeBal Aerolineas Baleares (DF/Palma de Mallorca). AeBal has suspended operations on September 16 as a result.
