US XTRA Airways to cut staff as owner divests

XTRA Airways (XP, Miami Int'l) has announced it is planning to lay off 164 staff members effective May 19 as its owner AerLine Holdings seeks to sell the airline to a new owner, South Florida Business Journal has reported.

The layoffs will cover pilots, cabin crew, maintenance workers, flight dispatchers, and coordinators.

Air Tanzania (TC, Dar-es-Salaam) has taken delivery of its third and final Dash 8-400 following the arrival of 5H-TCE (msn 4559) in Dar-es-Salaam on Monday, April 2.

The US Department of Transportation (DOT) imposed USD125,000 civil penalties on Qantas (QF, Sydney Kingsford Smith) for unauthorised transportation of passengers on its intra-US Los Angeles Int'l-New York JFK flights in 2015 and 2016.
