Finnair News Update

Finnair (AY, Helsinki Vantaa) will launch a daily EMB-170 service from Helsinki to Nuremberg and four weekly EMB-190 service from Helsinki to Bucharest Otopeni on April 10, 2007. It has also announced plans to add Mumbai to its network next year. It will suspend its Helsinki-Krakow and Helsinki-Pisa routes for the winter timetable period but is expected to resume both routes in spring 2007. Finnair has however already given up its Helsinki-Mariehamn route in August and will stop its Stockholm Arlanda-Oslo Gardermoen services by the end of next month.

Transavia Airlines (HV, Amsterdam Schiphol) will base a B737-800 in Eindhoven as of October 30 to launch inaugurate low-cost services from the airport. It has also announce several other new routes: Eindhoven-Alicante: 5x weekly service starting on October 30 Eindhoven-Faro: 2x weekly service starting on October 30 Eindhoven-Malaga: 5x weekly service starting on October 31 Rotterdam-Geneva: 4x weekly seasonal service starting on December 21 Rotterdam-Innsbruck: 4x weekly seasonal service starting on December 21

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines News Update

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines (KL, Amsterdam Schiphol) will give up its routes from Amsterdam to Amman Queen Alia and Damascus by the end of October and will also not resume its Amsterdam-Beirut route. It will transfer its daily Amsterdam-New York Newark route to alliance partner Northwest Airlines (NW/Minneapolis) on November 26.

bmi british midland (BD, East Midlands) will suspend its London Heathrow-Naples route for the winter season. It is expected to resume its flights from London Heathrow to Alicante, Naples and Nice in March 2007. It has however given up plans to launch a new route from Southampton to Amsterdam.

Transaero Airlines (UN, Moscow Vnukovo) has added a sixth ex-European Aircharter (E7/Bournemouth) B747-200 to its fleet and will add several B737-500s over the next couple of months. It will launch twice weekly B767-200ER service from Moscow Domodedovo to Amritsar on October 3. It will move its Moscow Domodedovo-Berlin route from Sch├Ânefeld to Tegel as of October 29. Transaero is also planning to add Ho Chi Minh City, Salzburg and Tokyo Narita to its network later this year.

Star XL German Airlines (GXL, Frankfurt Int'l) has leased two A320-200s from USA 3000 Airlines (U5/Philadelphia) and will lease a third aircraft from the US low-cost carrier later this year. One aircraft is operating on behalf of Hellas Jet (T4/Athens), the other two have been wet-leased to (VA/Milan Linate). Star XL German Airlines and Star Airlines (France) (SE/Paris CDG) are expected to wet-lease up to four A320-200s to Skywest Airlines (Australia) (XR/Perth) for the Australian summer season.
