Air Exel (XT, Maastricht) and its sister companies AlsaceExel (XT/Strasbourg) and LoirExel (XT/St. Etienne) have suspended their ATR 42 operations earlier this week due to financial difficulties of parent Exel Aviation Group. HollandExel (HXL/Amsterdam) and BelgiumExel (Brussels) are still operating charter flights using their joint fleet of B767-300ERs.

Spanair (JK, Barcelona El Prat) will start up to five times daily service between Madrid and La Coruna in early April using a MD-80 wet-leased from SAS Scandinavian Airlines (SK/Copenhagen Kastrup). It will also wet-lease a Fokker 100 from Gir Jet (GJV/Barcelona) to launch a three times daily service linking Barcelona and La Coruna.

Ryanair (FR, Dublin Int'l) will launch daily services from Dublin to Eindhoven and Rome Ciampino, four weekly services to Carcassonne and three weekly services to Biarritz on April 19. It will add twice daily flights from Rome Ciampino to Venice Treviso and Verona Brescia as well as daily flights from Dublin to Doncaster and from Rome Ciampino to Alghero on April 28, daily flights between Dublin and Frankfurt Hahn will start on May 3. All new services will be operated with B737-800s.

Fly Air (F2, Istanbul Atatürk) has been banned from European airspace due to outstanding payments to Eurocontrol for air traffic control services. Other Turkish charter carriers have already taken over most charter flights from Turkey to Europe. Fly Air has launched new weekly scheduled services from Istanbul Ataturk to Ercan and Khartoum.

It will operate a four times weekly seasonal Fokker 70 service between Budapest and Oslo Gardermoen and a twice weekly B737-700/-800 service from Budapest to Malaga between June and September.
