Chile's SKY Airline orders ten A321neo - report

SKY Airline (Chile) (H2, Santiago de Chile Int'l) has ordered ten A321neo from Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac), Reuters has reported citing industry sources.

Neither the Chilean airline nor the manufacturer commented on the report which said SKY was the unidentified customer that placed the order on September 30.

SKY Airline currently operates nine A319-100s and ten A320neo. Chief executive Holger Paulmann told ch-aviation in June that SKY is expecting a total of twenty-one A320neo from various lessors by 2021. At least...

Tanzanian gov't lessor orders one more Dash 8-400

State-owned lessor TGF - Tanzania Government Flight (Dar es Salaam) has signed a firm order agreement with De Havilland Aircraft of Canada for one Dash 8-400.

A press statement said the turboprop, which will be leased to and operated by Air Tanzania (TC, Dar es Salaam), will join three that are already in service and another previously ordered one. Overall, the state-owned carrier will operate a fleet of five Dash 8-400s configured in a 78-seat, dual-lavatory configuration.

NovoAir (VQ, Dhaka) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Firefly (FY, Penang) wherein the two carriers have pledged to support each other in the areas of training, engineering, aircraft maintenance, and operations. Via Airlines (VC, Orlando Int'l) has filed for voluntary Chapter 11 bankruptcy at the Florida Middle Bankruptcy Court and plans to restructure through the court-mandated procedure and eventually fly again, the Orlando Business Journal has reported.

Iraqi Airways issues ACMI RFP to European carriers

Iraqi Airways (IA, Baghdad) has issued a Request For Proposals (RFP) to all "European" airlines for the wet-lease of aircraft for use in running scheduled flights between Iraq and Europe on the Iraqi carrier's behalf. It did not specify the gauge and number of aircraft to be leased, or its definition of the term "European".

Spirit Airlines (NK, Fort Lauderdale Int'l) has announced in a press release that it will invest USD250 million into a new headquarters in Dania Beach, FL, in the vicinity of Fort Lauderdale Int'l airport.

Garuda Indonesia (GA, Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta) has entered into a lease agreement with GECAS for two B737-800 Boeing-converted freighters (BCF).

The P2F-converted aircraft are slated to be phased in around mid-2020 and will provide additional capacity to Cargo Garuda Indonesia, the Indonesian National carrier’s strategic business unit.

IAI partners GECAS for B777-300(ER) P2F line

Israel Aerospace Industries (Tel Aviv Ben Gurion) has partnered GECAS for the launch of the first B777-300(ER) P2F-converted freighter line.

Under the "Big Twin" deal, IAI said GECAS had committed to 15 firm converted aircraft, with an option for 15 more. The Israeli firm will undertake the conversions itself with deliveries expected to start in 2022.
