Phoenix Air (Zimbabwe) (Harare International) and Sol Air (Zimbabwe) (Harare International) have both been told by the Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe that they would not get new air operator certificates to launch operations in the country given they would not yet meet "IATA standards". Media reports are suggesting that this decision might have been politically motivated as the two carriers would have essentially planned to take over most of the domestic and regional routes previously operated by state owned Air Zimbabwe (UM, Harare International) which is currently not operating anymore but hoping to restart operations.
