Royal Jordanian (RJ, Amman Queen Alia) took delivery of its first two E195-E2s on January 25. On dry lease from Azorra Aviation, the duo are the first of eight E2 regional jets due to join the airline's fleet.

JY-REA (msn 19020116) and JY-REB (msn 19020123) were delivered from São José dos Campos Professor Urbano Ernesto Stumpf via Recife and Gran Canaria to Amman Queen Alia. They are part of an agreement announced in May 2023, which encompasses eight aircraft in total – six from Azorra’s existing backlog with Embraer (five E195-E2s and one E190-E2), plus two more E195-E2 firm orders from the airline directly from Embraer. They will gradually replace and grow Royal Jordanian’s current regional jet fleet, which currently comprises two E175s and two E195s.

“The E2 family of aircraft will support our strategic aims, complementing our larger narrowbody aircraft by matching capacity to demand, reducing operating costs and carbon emissions, while delivering a significant upgrade to passenger experience and comfort,” said Samer Majali, Chief Executive Officer and Vice Chairman of Royal Jordanian Airlines.

This is Azorra’s only leasing agreement with Royal Jordanian at the moment. The Amman-based carrier also leases aircraft from AerCap, CALC, DAE Capital, GTLK - State Transport Leasing, ICBC Financial Leasing, KDAC Aircraft Leasing, Park Aerospace Holdings, and Silver Aircraft Leasing.

The ch-aviation schedules module shows the airline plans to debut the type in revenue operations on February 1, 2024.

The ch-aviation fleets module shows Royal Jordanian operates an in-house fleet of 30 aircraft, including one A310-300(F), five A319-100s, nine A320-200s, two A321-200s, and seven B787-8s. It has an order for six B787-9s directly from Boeing and plans to add up to twenty A320neo Family aircraft to replace its narrowbody fleet and is due to induct the first A321-200(P2F) by the end of February 2024 to replace the A310 freighter.
