Sólyom Hungarian Airways (Budapest) has signed a leasing contract with an unspecified company in London for six aircraft (likely A320s), the first of which is due in Budapest before August 20, company CEO József Vágó has announced. Backed by Omani and Emirati investors, but run by three Hungarians, Sólyom has already set up shop at Budapest and plans to begin selling tickets in August. Mr Vágó said the launch of operations did not depend on his company, but rather on the Hungarian civil aviation authority (Polgári Légiközlekedési Hatóság - PLH) and the expediency with which it processed his airline's application. Vágó also confirmed that Sólyom has submitted an offer to purchase the Aeroplex Central European Air Vehicle Technology Centre Ltd. and Malev (Budapest) Ground Handling Company, but their owner, the Hungarian state, has yet to respond.
