Fastjet (Dar es Salaam) has announced that its first international route, Dar es Salaam to Johannesburg O.R. Tambo, will début from September 27. According to fastjet Chief Commercial Officer, Richard Bodin, flights will initially operate 3x weekly on-board an A319-100, with frequencies expected to increase in line with demand. Tickets are excepted to go on sale in early August. South African Airways (SA, Johannesburg O.R. Tambo) has been the route's sole operator since Precision Air (PW, Dar es Salaam) abandoned it in mid-2012. Interair South Africa (Johannesburg O.R. Tambo) has also reportedly applied for traffic rights to the route though no official confirmation of any launch has yet been issued.
