Kriber Air Lines (Zaragoza) is reportedly eyeing the abandoned Ciudad Real airport as a future hub for planned cargo and passenger operations. According to Spanish media reports, the Zaragoza-based airline, founded in February this year, intends to create 1'500 jobs there but only wants to bid a grand total of EUR40million for the facility, a fraction of its original EUR1.1billion price tag. Designed to handle overflow from Madrid Barajas, Ciudad Real opened to international flights in June 2010, only to close in April 2012 citing insufficient traffic.
