Polynesian Airlines (Apia Fagali'i) will acquire a third aircraft later next month as part of plans to cover the operational shortfall left by the grounding of one of its two DHC-6s. In his weekly radio address, the Samoan Prime Minister, Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi, said Polynesian's CEO, Tuala Alvin Seiuli, had already completed the necessary paperwork but did not disclose what type was being acquired.

American Samoan operator, Inter Island Airways (Pago Pago), has also been affected by a capacity shortfall after its sole aircraft, a Do328-100, was grounded due to maintenance issues.
