Luxaviation (LXA, Luxembourg) has acquired its Portuguese counterpart, Masterjet (Lisbon), in a move that will further enforce the Luxembourg-based operator's position as the largest business aviation company in Europe.

Though operating on a Portuguese Air Operators Certificate (AOC) and headquartered in Lisbon, Masterjet's fleet of eights jets - Falcon 2000/2000DXs, Learjets, and a VIP-configured A320-200 - is based out of Paris Le Bourget.

“With the addition of the A320, we will be able to serve the ‘head of state’ market,” Luxaviation co-CEO Patrick Hansen said.

Luxaviation says it will continue its strategy of retaining the identity, leadership and operational independence of each the subsidiaries within the group which, aside from Luxaviation itself and Masterjet, also includes Abelag Aviation (Brussels National), London Executive Aviation (Stapleford), Luxaviation Germany (LXG, Paderborn/Lippstadt), and Unijet (Paris Le Bourget).

Masterjet president Edward Queffelec and managing director Karol Gueremy will retain their job titles.
