Utah Airways (Ogden) has announced plans to begin 2x weekly return flights between Salt Lake City and Moab effective Friday, October 16. The unsubsidised operations are on-board the carrier's fleet of Piper (twin piston) PA-31 Navajos.

The route is an interim replacement for Great Lakes Airlines (Cheyenne) whose Essential Air Service (EAS) to connect Moab and Vernal with Denver International was revoked late last month by the US Department of Transportation (DOT) after Great Lakes failed to fulfil its contractual mandate.

The DOT has since retendered the contract for immediate commencement.
