Fastjet Zimbabwe (FN, Harare International) commenced revenue operations on Wednesday, October 28 with scheduled passenger flights between Harare International and Victoria Falls. The 3x weekly service is operated using the start-up's sole aircraft, A319-100 Z-FJE (cn 2281).

The LCC is reportedly in the process of negotiating regional traffic rights with the Zimbabwean authorities with South Africa, Kenya, Zambia, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Botswana and Malawi on the airline's wishlist.

The Zimbabwean operation is fastjet plc's second African subsidiary to launch after Fastjet (Dar es Salaam) in Tanzania. Fastjet Zambia (Lusaka) is expected to launch before year-end pending its certification with the Zambian Civil Aviation Authority (ZCAA).

Fastjet Zimbabwe's launch comes in the same week as rival carrier Zimbabwe flyafrica (Harare International) lost its Air Operators Certificate (AOC) following a legal dispute among the airline's shareholders.
