Originair (Nelson, NZ) is hoping to resume operations in the coming days after being forced to suspend them for the second time in eight weeks. Although he could not give any specific timelines, Managing director Robert Inglis told Fairfax Media that the carrier was looking to operate a reduced service aimed mainly at the Palmerston North-Nelson, NZ route as well as some charter work.

The virtual carrier was forced to suspend flights early last month after the Civil Aviation Authority of New Zealand (CAANZ) grounded its production firm, Air Freight NZ (TFR, Auckland International), citing safety concerns.

With the Jetstream 31 and Jetstream 32 out of service, Originair subsequently turned to Airwork Flight Operations (AWK, Auckland International) and its Metroliners which it used to ply Palmerston North-Nelson and Nelson-Wellington flights until service was again suspended on Friday, April 1.
