Texas-based fractional, jet card and charter operator Flexjet (LXJ, Cleveland Cuyahoga Country) is planning to retire its Learjet 40XR and Challenger 604/605 executive jet fleets the carrier's executive Vice President (Operations), Jason Weiss, has said.

In a letter to the pilot corps outlining its fleet and workforce restructuring plans, Weiss said Flexjet would offer voluntary separation agreements to affected pilots.

AIN Online reports flight crew operating Flexjet's Nextant 400XT and Citation X jets will also be affected given the carrier's plans to shift the types away from the fractional business model towards ad-hoc charter operations.

As part of its fleet transformation plans, Flexjet is in the process of acquiring twenty Challenger 350s from Bombardier Aerospace (BBA, Montréal Trudeau) as well as twenty Mach-capable AS2s from Aerion (Reno/Tahoe).
