Fly Sarvaq (Iqaluit) says it has revised its name to Go Sarvaq (Iqaluit) following the Canadian Transport Agency's (CTA) ruling on virtual carriers and their operational limitations.

“While it has been frustrating to take things slower while waiting for this recent regulatory ruling, we are now able to move forward with bringing our affordable travel option for Nunavummiut,” Adamee Itorcheak, President of Sarvaq Logistics, said.

Last month, the CTA ruled that while virtual carriers do not require an Air Operators Certificate (AOC) in order to offer commercial air transport, they cannot market themselves in such a way as to imply they are in fact an operating airline. As such, the ruling has already seen NewLeaf (Winnipeg International) rebrand itself simply as "NewLeaf".

For its part, Go Sarvaq has revised its operator plans switching from Nolinor Aviation (N5, Montréal Trudeau) to Flair Airlines (F8, Kelowna) with its revised launch date set for May 20. GoSarvaq will sell flights from Ottawa International to Halifax via Iqaluit using B737-400 equipment as opposed to B737-200Adv(C)s.
