The Malaysian Aviation Commission (MAVCOM) has revoked Eaglexpress Air Charter's Air Services Permit (ASP) effective immediately.

In August, MAVCOM granted Eaglexpress Air Charter (Kuala Lumpur International) a twelve-month ASP valid from September 1, 2016 up to August 31, 2017. The permit's validity was, however, subject to the airline complying with certain unspecified conditions by November 30, 2016.

As such, MAVCOM said in a statement issued this week that Eaglexpress had failed to adequately answer the concerns the regulator had raised in a Show Cause order issued on December 14.

"...upon reviewing the said written representations, MAVCOM has decided to revoke the ASP as the representations made were not satisfactory," it said. "The airline has failed to provide sufficient evidence for the Commission to believe that it will be able to resolve all concerns raised and to comply to the conditions imposed."

Though not formally specified, the revocation is reportedly linked to the carrier's growing wage backlog. Eaglexpress Air Charter's management has been involved in a bitter dispute with the National Union of Flight Attendants Malaysia (NUFAM) over the carrier's failure to pay its staff outstanding wages.

Founded in 2011, Eaglexpress Air Charter specializes in passenger charter flights. Of its fleet of four B747-400s, two are parked at Kuala Lumpur International, one is still in service for Saudia (SV, Jeddah International) as of today, and a B747-400(M) is stored at Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta.
