Jet Aviation Business Jets (PP, Zurich) has announced that it has signed a joint venture agreement with Slovakian firm Luxury Business Jets (Bratislava), to establish an aircraft management and charter operation in Malta.

The Swiss firm said in a statement that it is working towards an Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC) from the Civil Aviation Directorate in Malta, which it expects to receive during the third quarter of this year.

“The Malta operation is an ideal complement to our Swiss and German operations — and a very strategic addition to our aircraft management and charter business in the Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region,” Jürg Reuthinger, senior vice president and general manager of Jet Aviation’s aircraft management and charter operations in EMEA and Asia, said. “By adding an additional AOC in the European Union, Jet Aviation customers benefit from further flexibility in their choice of registrations and operation."

Jarka Sommeregger, the CEO of Luxury Business Jets, said a B737-700(BBJ1) and an Embraer Legacy 600 will be operated under the new Maltese AOC of Jet Aviation (Malta) (JML, Malta International).

Aside from its Swiss and nascent Maltese units, Jet Aviation also operates Avjet (Burbank) and Jet Aviation Flight Services (JAS, Teterboro) in the United States.
