Hong Kong's HKAC signs sale-lease back deals with Volaris, Azul

Volaris (Y4, Toluca) and Azul Linhas Aéreas Brasileiras (AD, Campinas Viracopos) have both entered into separate sale-lease back agreements with lessor Hong Kong Aviation Capital (HKAC) in deals valued at almost USD1billion. In a statement, HKAC said the Mexican LCC's agreement entailed seven A320-200s valued at USD700million while the Brazilian carrier's agreement amounted to four EMB-195s valued at USD200million.

Brazil's Azul files dates for maiden North American flights

Azul Linhas Aéreas Brasileiras (AD, Campinas Viracopos) is set to commence its first international services on December 1 with a daily Campinas Viracopos to Fort Lauderdale Int'l service. According to a filing with the Brazilian civil aviation authority (Agência Nacional de Aviação Civil - ANAC), Azul has also asked to operate a daily Campinas Viracopos to Orlando Int'l flight effective December 15. Both routes operate onboard an A330-200.

Brazilian regulator okays Azul's North American plans

Azul Linhas Aéreas Brasileiras (AD, Campinas Viracopos) has been given the go-ahead by the Brazilian civil aviation authority (Agência Nacional de Aviação Civil - ANAC) to commence flights to the United States later this year. American Airlines (AA, Dallas/Fort Worth) will launch flights from Miami Int'l and New York JFK to Campinas Viracopos with effect from December of this year. The flights will be made possible through the transitioning of one daily frequency between Miami and São Paulo Guarulhos and select weekly frequencies between New York and São Paulo Guarulhos.

Azul to revisit IPO plans later this year as prospects brighten

Azul Linhas Aéreas Brasileiras (AD, Campinas Viracopos) founder and CEO, David Neeleman, says his airline will revisit its recently shelved IPO plans in either December or January. In an interview with Bloomberg, Neeleman said the 6 year-old carrier was under pressure from investors to go public.

Azul had intended to raise up to USD540million in an IPO in 2013 but scrapped its plans due to "adverse" market conditions.
