TAP Portugal's bad numbers scare Avianca's Efromovich away

Avianca (AV, Bogotá) Holdings board chairman Germán Efromovich has pulled out of the race for a controlling majority stake in TAP Portugal (TP, Lisbon), currently set to undergo privatization. Aurigny to acquire an ex-Brazilian ATR42 next month

Aurigny Air Services (GR, Guernsey) is set to reintroduce the ATR42 type into its fleet with ATR42-500 N584NA (cn 584), formerly PR-AKH with Azul Linhas Aéreas Brasileiras (AD, Campinas Viracopos), expected to arrive on March 15 Jethro's database reports.

The Guernsey-based carrier operates two ATR72-500s, one ATR72-200, one EMB-195, and one Fokker 50 wet-leased from VLM (VG, Antwerp).

Gol Linhas Aéreas Inteligentes (G3, São Paulo Congonhas) is in talks with both Avions de Transport Régional (Toulouse Blagnac) and Bombardier (BBA, Montréal Trudeau) over a possible turboprop order Bloomberg news reports. Lisbon outlines conditions for TAP Portugal's privatization

TAP Portugal (TP, Lisbon) backer, the Portuguese government, has laid out the terms of its planned privatization of the carrier from which it will divest a total of 66%. While it will retain a 34% minority shareholding, 61% will go to a strategic investor while the other 5% will go to TAP employees.

Brazil's Azul mooted as frontrunner for TAP Portugal stake

Azul Linhas Aéreas Brasileiras (AD, Campinas Viracopos) is reported to be a front runner in the race for a 61% stake in TAP Portugal (TP, Lisbon) Portuguese newspaper Expresso has said.

Quoting airline officials close to the carrier's ongoing privatization process, the paper says Fernando Pinto, TAP's president, initiated contact with the Brazilians after a due diligence of all potential suitors showed Azul to be the most suitable.
