15AUG2013: China Cargo Airlines parks its last MD-11F freighter
China Cargo Airlines (CK, Shanghai Hongqiao) has parked its last remaining MD-11(F), B-2179 (msn 48545), at Shanghai Pudong, effectively ending its service carrier with the airline. The move is part of the airline's fleet renewal and rationalisation programme which has also seen it withdraw its fleet of three A300-600(F)s from service with its sole B757-200(F) now also slated for retirement. China Cargo also operates six B777-F and five B747-400(F) freighters.
13JUN2013: China Cargo sells its three A300-600 freighters to CALC
China Cargo Airlines (CK, Shanghai Hongqiao) has withdrawn its fleet of three A300-600(F) from active service. According to insiders, the three aircraft have since been sold on to the China Aircraft Leasing Company (CALC). At present time, China Cargo operates five B747-400(F)s, six B777-Fs, an MD-11(F) and a B757-200(F).
09JUN2013: China Eastern subsidiary, China Cargo, now a full Skyteam Cargo member
China Eastern Airlines (MU, Shanghai Hongqiao) has seen its cargo subsidiary, China Cargo Airlines (CK, Shanghai Hongqiao), accepted into the Skyteam Cargo Alliance following the signing of a Letter of Intent in June 2012. The move is part of the cargo carrier's plans to expand its international operations which, at present, are restricted to only the United States, Europe and South East Asia. It will also provide China Cargo with access to greater economies of scale said China Eastern SVP Shan Chuanbo. China Cargo's fleet consists of one B757-200(F) and one MD-11(F), three A300-600(F)s, five B747-400(F)s and six B777-Fs though there are plans to retire the 757-200(F) and MD-11(F) come 2015.
08JAN2013: China Eastern to restructure cargo operations
China Eastern Airlines (MU, Shanghai Hongqiao) has announced plans to sell its 51% majority stake in cargo carrier China Cargo Airlines (CK, Shanghai Hongqiao) to its fully owned subsidiary Shanghai Eastern Logistics. China Eastern had just taken full control of China Eastern Logistics in December when it acquired a 29.7% stake in the logistics company from China Ocean Shipping Group and another 1% stake from China Cargo Airlines. Going forward CEA plans to consolidate all of its cargo operations in Shanghai Eastern Logistics. Shanghai Eastern's joint venture partners at China Cargo will continue to be China Ocean Shipping, EVA Air (BR, Taipei Taoyuan) and Singapore Airlines Cargo (SQC, Singapore Changi) with each of the three parties owning between 16 and 17% in thc cargo airline.
11JUN2012: China Cargo joining Skyteam cargo alliance
China Cargo Airlines (CK, Shanghai Hongqiao) has agreed to join the Skyteam cargo alliance which already includes the cargo subsidiaries of other Skyteam carriers including Aeroflot (SU, Moscow Sheremetyevo), AeroMéxico (AM, México City), Air France (AF, Paris CDG), Alitalia (AZ, Rome Fiumicino), China Southern Airlines (CZ, Guangzhou), CSA Czech Airlines (OK, Prague), Delta Air Lines (DL, Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson), KLM Royal Dutch Airlines (KL, Amsterdam) and Korean Air (KE, Seoul Incheon). China Cargo is controlled by China Eastern Airlines (MU, Shanghai Hongqiao) which owns 51% of the cargo carrier with China Ocean Shipping, Singapore Airlines Cargo (SQC, Singapore Changi) and EVA Air (BR, Taipei Taoyuan) holding the remaining shares.
