LATAM Airlines Group has announced it will rebrand its LAN Airlines (LA, Santiago de Chile Int'l) and TAM Linhas Aéreas (JJ, São Paulo Congonhas) subsidiaries as Latam Airlines. VivaColombia eyes Miami flights later this year

VivaColombia (5Z, Medellín José Maria Córdova) has applied to the US Department of Transportation (DOT) for a Foreign Air Carrier Permit and Route Exemptions needed to commence scheduled passenger flights to the United States.

In its application, the Colombian LCC said it planned to begin daily flights from Bogotá and Medellín José Maria Córdova to Miami Int'l later this year using one of its seven A320-200s.

LAN Colombia to retire Dash 8-200s, scale back domestic network

LAN Colombia (4C, Bogotá) will dramatically scale back its presence in the domestic Colombian market next year with plans to transfer the affected routes to local specialist, Easyfly (Colombia) (EFY, Bogotá).

According to the Colombian press, beginning in February 2015, the LAN Airlines (LA, Santiago de Chile Int'l) subsidiary will retire its fleet of six Dash 8-200s in favour of more A320-200s which, it says, will allow it to better streamline its operations and cost structure.

LAN Airlines (LA, Santiago de Chile Int'l) and TAM Linhas Aéreas (JJ, São Paulo Congonhas) will begin the transition into a singular brand before the end of the year LAN's CEO, Ignacio Cueto, has said. Speaking to Colombia's El Tiempo newspaper, Cueto said LATAM Group management is working hard to find a suitable name that will unify the LATAM brand but which "will not necessarily be that of TAM, LAN, or even LATAM."
