Eritrea's Massawa Airways takes delivery of first of two Beech 1900Ds

Massawa Airways (Massawa) recently took delivery of its first of two Beech 1900Ds, N46AR (c/n UE27). The two Beechcraft will join an Yunshuji Y-7, E3-AAV, delivered to the Eritrean operator in early December 2012 for likely deployment on domestic and regional operations. Based out of Red Sea port city namesake, Massawa Airways is Eritrea's third scheduled airline after Eritrean Airlines (B8, Asmara) and NasAir (Eritrea) (UE, Asmara).

NasAir replaces East Air A320-200 by Air Bishkek B737-300

NasAir (Eritrea) (UE, Asmara) has wet-leased a first B737-300 EX-37002 (MSN 27521) from Kyrgyz partner Air Bishkek (KR, Bishkek). According to the African Aviation Tribune, it plans to operate the aircraft on a new route between Asmara and Mumbai Int'l as well. NasAir has so far wet-leased two A320-200s from Air Bishkek’s sister carrier East Air (EG, Dushanbe) but one of the aircraft has returned to Tajikistan.
