Greece's Sky Express to replace Jetstream 41s with more ATR42s

Sky Express (Greece) (GQ, Heraklion) is considering either the ATR42-320 or the -500 variant as a potential replacement for its fleet of three Jetstream 41s. The upgrade exercise is expected to begin after the upcoming summer season CEO Agamemnon Kikerakis said.

Greece's Sky Express acquires leased Lithuanian ATR42

Sky Express (Greece) (GQ, Heraklion) has assumed the operation of an ATR42-300, SX-GRY (cn 12A), previously wet-leased from Lithuania's DOT - Danu oro transportas (R6, Kaunas). The turboprop was previously registered as YL-ARI.

Established in 2005, the Greek carrier offers an extensive local network of twenty destinations served using the ATR42 and three Jetstream 41s.

Greece's Sky Express wet-leasing a Lithuanian ATR42 for domestic ops

Sky Express (Greece) (GQ, Heraklion) has wet-leased an ATR42-300, YL-ARI (c/n 12A), from Lithuania's DOT - Danu oro transportas (R6, Kaunas), ch-aviation has learned. The turboprop replaces the Greek airline's own Jetstream 41s on flights from Heraklion to Kos, Mytilene and Rhodes as the latter's capacity has proven inadequate to cope with growing demand.

Astra Airlines News Update

Astra Airlines (A2, Thessaloniki) has emerged as the winner of the reallocation of Greek domestic public service obligation routes with the routes from Athens Int'l to Sitia and from Thessaloniki to Kalamata, Kerkyra and Samos to be transferred to Astra from Aegean Airlines (A3, Athens Int'l). In return, Aegean has been allocated the Athens Int'l-Skiros route that is currently served by Sky Express (Greece) (GQ, Heraklion). The new route allocations will be effective May 1 until March 31, 2016.
