Alaska applies to transfer LAX-Mexico City route authority to AA

Alaska Airlines (AS, Seattle Tacoma Int'l) has applied to the US Department of Transportation (DOT) for permission to transfer its Los Angeles Int'l-México City route authority to American Airlines (AA, Dallas/Fort Worth).

While it gave no reason for the request, Alaska said the transfer would allow it to "redeploy aircraft on other routes and enhance its competitive presence elsewhere."

Mexican LCC Volaris to lease two A321s from ALC this spring

Volaris (Y4, Toluca) has signed long-term lease agreements with the Air Lease Corporation (ALC) for two A321-200 (sl)s. The twinjets, powered by IAE V2533-A5 motors, are sourced from ALC’s order book with Airbus Industrie (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) and are scheduled for delivery in spring this year.
