  • Read more 27JAN2014: Saudi Arabia's flynas phases out the EMB-190 from its fleet
    flynas (XY, Riyadh) has retired the EMB-190 from its fleet informed sources have told ch-aviation. The last of the Brazilian twinjets left the Saudi LCC's fleet in late October 2013 leaving it with twenty A320-200s and a single B747-400(M) on lease from Eaglexpress Air Charter (EZX, Kuala Lumpur Int'l). In recent months, flynas has undergone a major strategic shift which has seen it rebrand from nasair (Saudi Arabia) (XY, Riyadh), and introduce a new business class product. The carrier also announced plans for long-haul routes to London and Paris to be served with an undisclosed number of leased A330s. According to AirlineRoute, flynas' inflight magazine also shows Casablanca Int'l, Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta, Karachi Int'l, Kozhikode, Kuala Lumpur Int'l, Lahore and Manchester Int'l as other new planned international destinations.

    nasair (Saudi Arabia) (XY, Riyadh) has rebranded itself as flynas (XY, Riyadh) with immediate effect. Among other measures aimed at reinventing the Saudi LCC's image and business plan, the company will also add a new business class offering on all routes starting January 2014. Sulaiman Al Hamdan, CEO of Nas Holding, said: “The company has built strong customer appeal and high trust amongst passengers inside and outside Saudi Arabia by attracting frequent travelers, whether businessmen or individuals, who are looking for distinctive services and who appreciate quality. The new brand identity is modern, vibrant and confident and reflects our new strategic direction and brand promise to our customers which is to be ‘Better’."
  • Read more 11OCT2013: Saravia to rebrand as Saratov Airlines with delivery of EMB-195s
    Saratov Airlines (6W, Saratov Tsentralny) will be the new brand of Russian regional carrier Saravia (6W, Saratov Tsentralny) following the delivery of its first two ex-nasair (Saudi Arabia) (XY, Riyadh) EMB-195s on lease from aircraft lessor GECAS. The two aircraft (cn 19000157 and cn 19000169) are currently being prepared for Saratov Airlines in Exeter in the United Kingdom and will be re-registered to the Bermudan register and delivered shortly. The aircraft will replace Saravia's aging fleet of Yak-42s on its scheduled flights from Saratov to Ekaterinburg, Moscow Domodedovo, Prague and Yerevan.

    Jazeera Airways (J9, Kuwait) is set to begin twice weekly services from Kuwait to Dubai's new airport, Dubai World Central, effective October 31 in addition to its multiple daily services to Dubai Int'l. As it stands, the facility will commence passenger trials on October 12 which, if all goes according to plan, with result in it opening to traffic on October 27. Saudi Arabian low-cost operator, nasair (Saudi Arabia) (XY, Riyadh), which had been touted as a maiden operator with Jeddah and Riyadh flights on October 27 has not yet announced if and when the move will take place following management changes at the Saudi LCC. Wizz Air (W6, Budapest) is the only other scheduled passenger operator that has already confirmed flights to DWC.

    Saravia (6W, Saratov Tsentralny) is in the process of securing two former nasair (Saudi Arabia) (XY, Riyadh) EMB-195s, VP-CQS (c/n 19000157) & VP-CQR (c/n 19000169), on lease from US-based lessor GECAS. Out of its Saratov Tsentralny hub, Saravia operates charter and scheduled domestic passenger flights in addition to offering international charters to destinations in Europe and the CIS. The EMB-195s will replace the carrier's Yak-42s on scheduled services.
