Thai Lion Air (SL, Bangkok Don Mueang) operated its maiden flight from Bangkok Don Mueang to the northern Thai city of Chiang Mai on Wednesday, December 4. The route was operated using on of the airline's two B737-900(ER)s. Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Thai Lion CEO Darsito Hendroseputro said: "We have two B737-900(ER)s in the fleet and we plan to add two more in February. The additional aircraft will be used to increase frequency on existing routes and to launch new domestic and international services such as the Bangkok - Hat Yai and Bangkok- Singapore Changi routes." Thai Lion will also serve Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta and Kuala Lumpur International from Don Mueang initially.
