Conviasa (V0, Caracas Simón Bolivar) has returned its leased A330-200, EI-EZL (cn 802), to owner Meridiana fly (Olbia) after the aircraft suffered hydraulic failure while on approach into Caracas Simón Bolivar. The twinjet has since been ferried home to Italy for maintenance where it again operates on Meridiana flights. Records show that the Venezuelans have now replaced the aircraft with a wet-leased Air Italy (2005) (Milan Malpensa) B767-200(ER), I-AIGH (msn 23973). With its own A340-200, YV1004 (cn 31), still out of action in Bordeaux Mérignac, Conviasa uses leased widebodies to ply its long-haul international routes, Madrid Barajas in particular.
