Nok Air (DD, Bangkok Don Mueang) is to acquire Siam General Aviation (Bangkok Suvarnabhumi) outright for THB150million (USD4.6million) the Bangkok Times has reported. Over the past few years, Siam General Aviation has operated under the Nok Mini brand albeit as a non-equity-associated carrier of Nok Air.

The decision to proceed with the buy-out comes after SGA founder Jain Charnnarong and other minority shareholders resolved to disengage from the feeder and charter air business citing Jain's health issues.

The report claims that after the buyout is complete, Nok Mini will become a wholly-owned subsidiary of Nok Air, so its performance can be isolated and measured by the parent company.

At present, SGA's fleet consists of six Saab 340Bs used to serve many of Thailand's smaller airfields including Mae Sot, Phrae, Nan Nakhon, Phitsanulok, Ranong, Loei, Udon Thani, Roi Et, Mae Hong Son, Buri Ram, Chumphon as well as Mawlamyine and Yangon in Myanmar.
