Citilink (QG, Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta) is to roll out its first ever international service - Surabaya to Johor Bahru, Malaysia - effective March 15. In its report, CAPA says the Garuda Indonesia (GA, Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta) subsidiary has also marked Surabaya to Kuala Lumpur International and Singapore Changi along with Denpasar to Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and Perth International.

No exact launch date has yet been set for the latter destinations CEO Arif Wibowo said. According to Wibowo, Perth will likely be the last route to launch given Australia's lengthy traffic rights application process. Citilink has already secured approval from Indonesian authorities to begin operating international services.

The advent of international services is expected to both boost the airline's foreign currency coffers as well as cushion its bottom line given Indonesia's weakening Rupiah.
