Dominican Wings (Santo Domingo Las Américas) is a new Dominican startup looking to commence operations this Summer using an A320-200 sourced from its Lithuanian parent, Avion Express (X9, Vilnius). Once demand picks up, additional aircraft will be sourced, possibly during the 2014/15 Winter season.

“What is great about the Americas for us is the great market potential, but it also allows us the capability of moving assets quite rapidly between the two AOCs to take advantage of the counter cyclical markets,” Gardar Forberg, a Co-Founder and Partner of Avion Capital Partners SA, told Routes at its conference in El Salvador.

Forberg said Avion Express had applied for a Dominican Air Operators Certificate which, together with its Lithuanian one, will allow the carrier to operate aircraft in Europe during summer and the Americas during winter.
