Darwin Airline (Lugano) will temporarily suspend its Etihad Regional services between Cambridge and Amsterdam Schiphol and Geneva with effect from March 30. Services to Milan Malpensa and Paris CDG were suspended over five weeks ago on the back of poor demand.

However, the Etihad Airways (EY, Abu Dhabi International) subsidiary has announced plans to offer a new service from Cambridge to Verona in May in conjunction with a major UK tour operator.

Following the recent major investment in Darwin Airline by Etihad Airways, the newly renamed airline - Etihad Regional - has been reviewing its current network of routes across Europe.

In other news, Darwin will deploy its first of four ATR72-500s leased from Nordic Aviation Capital on flights from Geneva to Bordeaux Mérignac, Rome Fiumicino and Toulouse Blagnac effective April 27. Its other three ATR72-500s, which are to be delivered through June, will be deployed on intra-Italian routes as well as on flights out of its new Zurich base.
