WDL Airlines (Bratislava) is a Sino-Slovak cargo start-up established by the Slovak-Asian Chamber of Commerce (SACC) to foster stronger relations between Slovakia and China.
Backed by the Tianjin Wandelong Logistics Co., Ltd (60%) and by an undisclosed Slovak firm (40%), the carrier intends to offer a direct Tianjin to Bratislava cargo service using a leased B747-400(F).
The joint venture will be based out of Bratislava and be registered with the Slovak Aviation Office.
While reports have pointed to flights beginning in either May or June this year, Bratislava Airport officials have refused to comment noting only that discussions were still on going.
