Ryanair (FR, Dublin International) has announced it will open two new Polish bases - Warsaw Modlin and Gdansk - with effect from October 2014.

The Irish LCC intends to base one B737-800 at each airport in anticipation of the Winter 2014 season. From Modlin, it intends to launch a new route to Madrid Barajas and to increase frequencies to Gdansk, Shannon and Wroclaw - while from Gdansk it will increase frequencies to Birmingham, GB and Wroclaw.

Overall, Ryanair will invest over USD180million into both Gdansk and Warsaw Modlin Airports.

Ryanair's other Polish bases include Kraków John Paul II International and Wroclaw.
