Emirates (EK, Dubai International) has become the latest international carrier to suspend flights to Conakry, Guinea following a recent outbreak of the deadly Ebola virus.

The Emirati carrier said the 4x weekly service would be indefinitely suspended as the safety of its passengers and crew was the highest priority and would "not be compromised."

An Air France (AF, Paris CDG) flight from Guinea was recently quarantined on the tarmac of Paris CDG when a passenger began to show signs and symptoms of the highly contagious disease. It was later released when tests came back negative.

The outbreak recently forced Gambia Bird (Banjul) to postpone the launch of its maiden flights to Conakry.

Guinea has reported 134 suspected Ebola cases since the beginning of this year of which 86 have been fatal. Fears the disease could be spreading have risen after cases were also reported in Liberia and Mali.
