Trans States Airlines (St. Louis Lambert International) along with SkyWest Airlines (OO, Salt Lake City) and Mesa Airlines (YV, Phoenix Sky Harbor) have all submitted bids to American Airlines (AA, Dallas/Fort Worth) to operate its incoming fleet of brand new E175s sourced directly from Embraer (EMB, Sao Jose dos Campos). According to FlightGlobal other potential operators of the type include US Airways (Phoenix Sky Harbor) subsidiaries Piedmont Airlines (PT, Salisbury, MD) and PSA Airlines (OH, Dayton James M. Cox) both of which operate under the US Airways Express banner.

In contrast to the others, Republic Airlines (Indianapolis International) executives earlier this month confirmed their airline would not join the bidding.

Originally intended for its Envoy Air (MQ, Dallas/Fort Worth) subsidiary, American Airlines moved to reconsider its options when earlier this year, Envoy pilots vetoed a negotiated agreement that would have provided contract concessions in return for the Group refleeting Envoy with the new EMB-175s. The move will also see Envoy parking fifty-nine E140s while transferring forty-seven of its CRJ700s to another third-party regional carrier operating under the "American Eagle" brand.
