Niki (Austria) (Vienna) plans to begin offering a daily A320 service from Vienna to Abu Dhabi International with effect from November 24 this year. However, the route is still subject to official confirmation.

"For the first time in our ten year history we are planning a long-haul flight from Vienna. It is a very special moment for our airline," Niki CEO Christian Lesjak, said marking the occasion.

At present, the Air Berlin (1991) (Berlin Tegel) subsidiary operates twelve A320s, four A321s and seven E190s on flights to Eastern and Western Europe, Russia, Israel as well as to North Africa. Air Berlin will also participate in the expansion of feeder services to Etihad Airways (EY, Abu Dhabi International) with the launch of a daily A320-200 service linking Stuttgart Manfred Rommel with Abu Dhabi from December 1.
